the man of the house...

Melbourne based entrepreneur Hamish Cameron unleashed ties of ‘mischievous refinement’ onto the market some three years ago with the launch of his high-end brand, House of Manfred.

With a passion for high end fashion and experience in brand marketing, Hamish set about developing a high end brand that celebrated the loveable rogue in society.

"I really appreciate the work that goes into producing high quality items (there are forty separate operations that go into making a Manfred tie). I once bought a Hermes tie and the whole experience and packaging was fantastic – expensive, but exclusive and fantastic. I decided then and there, I’d rather purchase one good tie a year rather than three average ones."

View the collection at Magnolia Square in Malvern or online. Ties priced from $120 Mischievous refinement indeed!

rags to riches...

Cloth Poppy presents a whimsical range of children’s clothing and accessories featuring the charm of vintage fabrics and endearing design.

The collection was inspired soon after the birth of founder Leesa Cowen's daughter who had decided she would like to wear only skirts. After many a fruitless search for skirts that were both pretty and practical, Leesa set about making her own. She sourced beautiful recycled fabrics and gave them new life in the form of easy to wear children's clothing.

Cloth Poppy now has a range of wonderfully soft, comfortable outfits and accessories that are lovingly handmade and designed in Victoria from fine new and recycled fabrics. The range can be viewed online or pop in to Magnolia Square at Malvern for a closer look.

deer oh deer...

Bride&Wolfe founder Miranda Moreira found herself in a shop in Paris, transfixed by a tiny timber Hansel and Gretel silhouette behind the counter. Despite Miranda's pleas, the shop assistant insisted the intricate cut-out had been in the family for decades and was not for sale. But the ominous, fairytale imagery stayed with her and, when she moved home to Melbourne, she started crafting her own timber cut-outs, inspired by her home town's keen, fresh spirit as much as the ooze of Parisian chic. Bride&Wolfe was born in 2005.

Bride&Wolfe pieces are inspired by Chinese papercutting, fossicked embroidery and fabrics, European folklore, and vintage Disney films. These influences are the touchstones for modern, resonant designs that evoke fairytales, forests and the magic of childhood. The intricate creations are produced in Melbourne in small runs and hand-finished in Miranda's garden studio.

Visit Miranda online or at Magnolia Square in Brighton. Deer piece as shown priced from $130

building an empire...

Based in Castlemaine, Victoria, Gretchen Hillhouse continues to be fascinated by a exploration of the contemporary feminine, pushing boundaries of materials & challenging our expectations of objects for interior decoration and personal adornment.

Gretchen says: "I strive to enhance people's lives through the creation of objects of contemplation & beauty. I've always been interested in designing for people of substance & depth of character. These are qualities that take time to develop and I hope my pieces reflect that sensibility & the unique beauty of a fully realized individual."

Perhaps best known for her ceramic work which has attracted numerous awards & is represented in public collections nationally, Gretchen also delivers a stunning range of jewellery and has recently added a collection of clothing. We are particularly taken with the porcelain Empire range.

Gretchen will be a valued visitor at Magnolia Square in Malvern. Preview the collections online.

all aboard...

Tracy Strange has long been a fan of the original Destination Scroll banners having been drawn to their typographic style and aesthetic value.

Tracy identified a gap in the market for similar pieces that were unique and accessible and set about making some of her own. The banners are printed onto stretched canvas and are custom made to represent important places, names or interests. The banners are a fabulous unique talking point. Visit Trambanners at Magnolia Square at Malvern or visit them online. Prices start at$349
