sparkle

We love how Helen Bremner has turned the traditional craft of ceramics into something contemporary and super gorgeous!

Like many successful home based businesses, Ensparkle begun as a hobby and quickly grew into a successful collection of handmade delights. The simple, bold images are hand painted on to each piece and can be personalised to order. What a special gift for a special someone! Loving the new ceramic brooches!

the shoe fits

We adore sisken as much today as we did when we first laid eyes on it. The combination of classic design and gorgeous soft hand worked leathers makes for a supreme marriage and we just can't get enough. Sydney siders will finally be able to lay claim to a pair of sisken ballet flats this time around and let us just say, for both comfort and style; there will be no going back!

Kristy will also be introuducing us to her latest colour palette, this time with a delicious fruity twist in shades of pomegrante, blueberry and plum - yum! Click here for more.

thank you and you and you

A lovely friend (and avid blog reader) alerted me to this very sweet blog knowing you would all love it just as much.

Its all about being thankful and appreciating the little things in life. Leah Dieterich's mother always told her to write thank you notes. So she does. To everything. thxthxthx is her daily exercise in gratitude. There’s always something to be thankful for. From the important things like Songs You’re Embarrassed to Like, and Heavy Eyelids that Tell You When You Need to Sleep, to friends and family, love and loneliness, light and darkness, Leah Dieterich sets out to acknowledge them all. thxthxthx is her daily exercise in gratitude.

While we are on to thank-you's...here are mine for the day.......thank-you to the sun for shinning gloriously today; thanks for reading and thank-you to Sian for sharing - what are yours??

clever with a pencil

Forgive me if I lose focus during this post as I stare wistfully at these dreamy images! They are the work of Sydney illustrator Nikki Catalano and have quickly moved to the top of my 'shopping list' for our next event in Sydney. Not sure if it is the colours, the textures, the patterning or the combination of it all that makes these pieces so yummy.

Nikki’s work has been recognised both nationally and internationally. She has exhibited extensively including Berlin and Paris and deservedly won many awards and been selected for honorable exhibitions such as Object Galleries ‘New Design’ showcasing the best new talents. Nikki has also been recognised as Australia’s top 4o young designers in Monuments Magazine as well as having been published for her work in Vogue Living. We are delighted to welcome Nikki to the Magnolia Square mix in Sydney where she will make her debut appearance.

sit down mum

A very Happy Mothers Day to all our lovely Mums. Being a Mum is like nothing else and we wouldn't swap it for the world but that doesn't mean we wouldn't still like something tied up in string tomorrow! Here's my pick and may I suggest a great IOU if you haven't quite got around to buying your mum the perfect pressie yet!

A Zaishu slot together seat/table is a unique gift that ticks all the boxes; sustainable, one of a kind, superb quality and a true work of functional art.

Each piece is carefully constructed by hand in Australia using ecologically sourced Australian timbers and finished with a truly beautiful array of designs, many the result of close collaborations with Australian artists and designers.

Wishing all our Mums, Grandmas, Aunties and others a lovely day tomorrow!

new talent

Tops Arts in Victoria (Art Express in New South Wales) showcase the incredible talent of year 12 students in visual and creative arts.

From an initial selection of over 3,000 works and through a rigorous selection process and short listing procedure approximately 60 students are represented in the exhibition. Works demonstrate strong conceptual development and express imaginative and individual qualities. The works are diverse in compositions, method and subject but all linked by awe inspiring talent.

Australia certainly has some creative talent to look forward to ....exhibitions are on now through the states and are guaranteed to leave you full of motivation for your next creative pursuit.
