paper pose....

These utterly divine paper clogs and dress made from old envelopes got me totally distracted and for days I have been consumed by all things paper..here are a few of the stand outs from my latest Internet expedition!

Frazier and wing is a Oregon based design studio that was established in 2007 by artist and designer Heather Frazier. A place where mobiles are made with 'hands and hearts' " We embrace the place where modern, high design meets handmade" says Heather. This particular one is sold but there are more available here...

This from the paper genius herself Jo Neville. An amazing up cycled paper chandelier hangs from the ceiling of Jo's Paddington store; Paper Couture. A must visit when in Sydney - this place truly is paper heaven.

Even Chanel is on to the paper thing....The last Chanel Haute Couture collection is like a new beginning: “A white page,” says Karl Lagerfeld, “a linear and timeless graphic interpretation. It’s like a starting point for the story of this new era, for which all the details still need to be written. That is why I chose paper as the theme for the couture collection this season.” The strong connection between Karl Lagerfeld and this theme gives this collection its intensity, “It’s also the fabric that I prefer most… I love paper! Everything begins on paper. Without paper I would be lost!”

If its good enough for Chanel ..its good enough for us!

more than words.....

A-Z cuff links from type key are right on trend. Here's a few more reasons why a picture ( or jewellery or linen...) can often be more than a thousand words!

pick a letter' any letter...typography canvas tote bags by design duo Lola and Bailey are available in all 26 letters...l for library bag; g for gym bag; s for shopping bag....

This fabulous piece of number art was so admired by our very own queen bee, Nic that she felt compelled to provide it with a loving home on her living room wall! That said, you can find other similar pieces amongst interesting vintage industrial styled furniture at Guy Matthews - 154 Johnston Street Fitzroy Victoria.

The talented Rachel Castles creates artworks for her label Castle that positively sing...a beautiful bright mix of hand embroidered letters on linen.... who doesn't love a rainbow?

This amazing Pony Rider quilt cover is created from small typography style panels. All are hand printed in Australia and hand sewn to ensure each quilt is unique. And while on Pony Rider; who could resist these gorgeous screen printed flags...bunting for grown up's! Yummy!

sticks and stones.....

Oh yummy.....just been drooling over the superb website of St Kilda based furniture and landscape artist Greg Hatton. A range where nature and art collide with sublime resuts.

"All my work is constructed from reclaimed material, fallen trees and stuff I find on the side of the road. Timber tell me what it want's to be" says Greg.

double the doily.....

We love a pretty doily here at Magnolia Square but this is taking the affair to a whole new level! Ladies and Gentlemen founder Jean took her lace passion to epic proportions with this amazing mega doily rug.

Knitted together by hand using cotton rope, this full size rug would certainly be a conversation piece....wonders never cease to amaze!

judging a book...

We all know we shouldn't do it but we all judge a book by it's cover. Brooklyn artist, Julia Rothman makes no apologies about doing just that and has put together a blog dedicated to appreciating the design and illustration of books.

Book by its Cover shares unique and unusual books from all over the world. Of particular interest is the handmade section and the sketchbooks where the art really maketh the book. Definitely one to check out...enjoy!

sister act.....

Mookah is about a journey of two sisters through a change of location, lifestyle and a dream to do something together.

Little sis Lulu and big sis Colli had always dreamt of running a business or doing something together, but distance was always a barrier so they said hello to a sea change to Inverloch and said goodbye to the excuses! Over a few glasses of festive wine a little business called "Mookah" was created!

The home decor range is predominately inspired by the beautiful surrounds of their new homes; with botanical infused prints and neutrally toned fabrics. With a collection of softies, scatter cushions and fabulous floor cushions, Mookah will keep you comfy indeed! If you missed the girls at Randwick, pop into the etsy store or hold out until our next event in Malvern!

rain, hail or shine

Well truth be known, it was mostly rain but that didn't stop the dedicated fillies from hitting Randwick for a lap around the track. Here is a bit of the yumminess shoppers were treated to. Above - newly launched label Tickets for Coco shows for the first time in Sydney and the punters loved what they saw!

A tree growing gorgeous at Little Chillies.
